A Fresh Approach.
Frazer and Emma took over The Red Lion in April 2021 after dreaming of running a pub for the last 10 years and moving back to their childhood homes.
Frazer has been working in kitchens for 15 years having started out at the Balmoral hotel in Edinburgh. He then moved down to London to train under celebrity chef Mark Hix in various restaurants and Hotels moving his way up to senior levels. He then took the role of Head Chef at the award winning Gunton Arms in Norfolk where he began his passion with pub dining. After the arrival of their eldest daughter, they moved back to Lincolnshire to be close to family where Frazer took a post at the well-known Olive Branch in Clipsham. Since then, he has worked at the then brand-new Paten and Co in Stamford and Barnsdale Lodge near Oakham.
Emma’s background is in West End Theatre management and customer services and more recently has worked as a teaching assistant at a local primary school. She has recently completed her Level 1 WSET wine training and is passionate about food, wine and local history.

Local suppliers
We do our best to source the best possible ingredients from local suppliers and work directly with farms and producers. We’ve worked with Hopshackle brewery in Market Deeping to produce our own exclusive beer and Grasmere Farm in Deeping St James to be able to offer you a sausage produced solely for our customers.
Sustainably Run
We work hard with local suppliers to ensure that your food and drinks don’t have to travel very far, cutting down our carbon footprint. We recycle as much as we can and are paper/plastic free where possible. We grow our own herbs and use our own eggs, as well as ensuring that all the meat and fish we use is sustainably sourced and organic.
History
The Red Lion Public House, along with the people who have owned or occupied the building, has made a significant contribution to village heritage over its four- or maybe five-hundred years’ history.
The earliest evidence found, so far, of any inn or public house in West Deeping dates back to 1632. However, according to Historic England, the pub was “refronted” in 1795 - corresponding with the stone plaque on the building with the initials RF, Richard Figg (a local farmer and property owner).
Many of the original features of the pub can be seen today, including a partially burnt beam from a large fire many years ago (take a look upwards in the fireplace next time you take a visit and see if you can spot it!)
